I fell in love with them kinda late, like during summer. Even though Shah had played one or two of their songs frequently in the car, I didn't really like them at first. Then on a quiet drive, I could really hear how amazing his voice is, how their music sounded like old classic rock but they were actually formed in 2001. They are different from the current music so it felt really nice and oddly fresh. On the 20-hour flight back to Malaysia, Emirates had one of their albums playing and that was when I really listened to their songs and I was hooked.
BEST ALBUM - EL CAMINO
I love almost every song in this album, even though some of them sound a tad bit similar to each other, but I guess that was the 'theme' of the album? Idk but I enjoyed them. haha. The home runs for this album are Lonely Boy, Gold on The Ceiling, and Little Black Submarines. This album got FIVE nominations for the 2013 Grammy's so no, I'm not kidding you when I say they are gooddd.
BEST MALE K-POP - BIG BANG
I was introduced to them by Aini since she loves TOP. I was forced to listen to Tonight lol. But I was a bit on the fence. Then, in 2012, they released their new song, Blue, which ex-rumets ku pasang kat living room. I like it instantly and started listening to it on my own hahaha. then they released Bad Boy, and Fantastic Baby, which I love too! Out of the three new songs, my favorites are Blue and Bad Boy. Their tours were amazing (as seen on Youtube) and they have great showmanship. I like them so much that I even listened to GD's new solo songs like One of a Kind and That XX.
BEST FEMALE K-POP - HYUNA
HyunA is famous for her sexiness and provocative dance performances. At first I was like, whoaaaa. Now, I love her! She's like my girl crush. hahaha. very sexy and can be cute tooo. her skin is soooo fair and she looks good in mostly anything. I love her new songs: Ice Cream, Unripe Apple, and Straight Up. She may not have the best vocals but hey, kalo aku nak vocal aku dgr Adele la kan. I bought a sneaker wedges because I saw her wearing it in the Gangnam Style music video and she looked sooooo adorable in them! HyunA, regardless of what people say about you, you are my Kpop girl crush this year mwah.
There are a lot of "mainstream" songs that I love throughout this year but I don't have any number one favorite because all of them are equally good and enjoyable. I'm not really a KPOP fanatic but I listen to all kind of genres (as you can tell, the Black Keys and HyunA got nothing in common). I honored the categories in this post because their were not my regular jam but yet managed to make me fell in love with them.
